Dzikwa Trust Fund

Dzikwa Trust fund in Zimbambwe

The Dzikwa Trust Fund was established as a legal entity and began its activities in Zimbabwe, in September 2002. We decided to establish the Trust Fund as we needed an official channel through which we could receive donations and make investments or longer-term contracts in Zimbabwe. A copy of our charter is available to our sponsors, on request.

In the Zimbabwean language of Shona, the word “Dzikwa” means being on a firm ground/having a strong foundation. Seppo came up with name originally as a shortened version of the name of the area in which the Fund carries out its activities: “Dzivaresekwa”, it was only afterwards that Steve Chifunyise explained what the word “dzikwa” means in Shona.

The Dzikwa Trust has been the direct recipient of some donations materials and resources required for its activities.  Canon, Finland has donated both digital and traditional cameras, which have both proved very useful. The Finnish diplomatic mission in Maputo, Mozambique has donated two computers for the Dzikwa Trust's use.
